Title:
“Strength in numbers.”  This simple concept is the core of our union.  Loss of local control is simply unacceptable and there is one major way we can help gain some of that control back.  As local leaders we need to do everything we can to get our members out to the polls on May 17th to vote for local school budgets and union endorsed BOE trustees. Individual locals often stick their necks out to endorse particular candidates for very real reasons.  I ask….NO…I IMPLORE you to get your members to vote for local union endorsed candidates…and insist that they get their families, friends, neighbors, acquaintances to do the same.   Babylon Teachers’ Association has endorsed 2 NYSUT members…
1a: Dave Sonkin
3a: Elizabeth Altbacker (incumbent)
 (we had to make a tough decision to turn away another NYSUT member because of the importance of removing one of the incumbents from the BOE… 4 candidates for 2 spots)
This is one of the most important races for us in recent times.  Please spread the word for all of those locals that feel it necessary to endorse BOE candidates.  We deserve each other’s support.
