| BMUST has proposed the following resolution for acceptance at the NYSUT Representative Assembly, which will take place in Buffalo in April. At this point, a number of other locals have signed on as co-sponsors. We welcome your comments on this topic.....Click Here for Resolution |

On January 25, BMUST members attended a rally at the Evergreen Charter School in Hempstead, in support of Jill Haag, a teacher who was instrumental in organizing teachers there to form a union. The school is now officiallya NYSUT local, but Jill was fired from her job, with no apparently valid reason, when she was 8 months pregnant. She lost her income and health insurance, in a blatant attack on union rights. About 100 teachers, NYSUT members, parents, and others picketed in solidarity with Jill and her colleagues.
